Graphic Design / Mojito Nation
The objective of this project was to create imagery from elements of a typeface. I chose the typeface "Mojito Rough" from Adobe Fonts, and used pieces of characters and glyphs to illustrate several western-themed icons. I experimented with several color palettes and pattern styles in preparation for arranging the icons in a poster layout. For the poster, I further emphasized the western theme through warm, washed out colors. I took inspiration from old saddlery and western tack advertisements, and also made a rope brush to contain the content of the poster. I chose to make a supplement dark theme poster to balance the light one, as I felt it needed a companion design.
Adobe Illustrator 2022
I began this project by sketching several iterations on paper, keeping in mind they would have to be composed of letterforms later on. My goal for the sketches was clarity and simplicity, as they would become bolder and more stylized in the digitizing process. After I was satisfied with the concepts, imported the sketches into Illustrator, cropped my chosen icons, and traced over them with cut out pieces of characters and glyphs.
