This project focuses on redesigning the cover of a well-known book. For this interpretion of Andy Weir's The Martian I focused on tactile design to give the illusion of texture. I took heavy inspiration from the space suit seen in the 2015 movie adaptation, which features a metal chest plate over a durable, stitched fabric. I used a combination of texture overlays and the 3D materials tool in Adobe Illustrator to achieve the look similar to the worn space suit while staying true to its major structural elements.
